Magnesium is a mineral vital to the operation of the your body.... it functions for bone strength, nerves, blood sugar, migraines, immune functions and the list grows long. While there is magnesium available in food, if we are eating those foods in the correct amounts or our body is absorbing what we're taking, then our systems can crash. I've experienced this twice, winding up in emergency both times. It wasn't immediately obvious what was wrong, and I know now what to look for. For me it had been a decline in strength, brain fog and lack of energy that were the predominant indicators, but when I 'crashed' it was a hard landing. The last time my magnesium levels were virtually non existent and at grave danger of a heart attack. What fun - and I was on holidays in England. I had been sick with a virus (and vomiting) which dehydrated me and complicated matters. I was taking magnesium supplements but wasn't giving my body time to absorb, and I was taking medication that interfered with magnesium absorption.

As a herbalist, I already knew that many headaches were the result of lowered magnesium levels. A roll on of the magnesium oil helped relieve that better that ibuprofen (and my roll-ons also include lavender or peppermint which also assist). I discovered that using the roll-on when restless leg set in at night that the magnesium often provided relief for that as well.

I know that doctors often prescribe blood work - do you read what your lab results are (in BC it's really easy to set up)? The results tell you a lot about what your body is doing, and that includes your magnesium levels.
